Application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate and constantly review work processes that ensure that the quality of the business process is maintained for the implementation of specific industry technologies at an identified industry standard.

It applies to individuals engaged in ongoing review and research in order to identify, manage and evaluate the implementation of industry technologies or techniques to improve aspects of the organisation's activities.

Work functions in the occupational areas where this unit may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Refer to the ICT Implementation Guide Companion Volume or the relevant regulator for details of licensing, legislative or certification requirements.

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

  • analyse and critically evaluate features and functions of identified industry specific technologies to an industry standard
  • manage the implementation of new and emerging industry specific technologies
  • review the performance of the industry specific technologies for the organisation.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

  • describe the trends and applications of current vendor products and technologies
  • outline the various techniques for gathering information
  • discuss the current directions of information and communications technology (ICT) and specifically of the major industry technology standards used in the specified area
  • summarise the general features, capabilities and application of current industry hardware and software products.

Assessment Conditions

Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the general ICT industry, and include access to:

  • a site where industry specific technologies may be used
  • industry specific technologies currently used in industry
  • documents detailing work health and safety (WHS) standards, environmental guidelines and organisational requirements.

Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.
